Jimmie E. Clark, 95, of Rockford, IL passed away on September 24, 2022. Jimmie was born on March 15,1927, to John H. Clark and Vida Kaster Clark in Centerville, Iowa. Jimmie and Verna J. Mulligan met in Rockford, IL and married on April 18,1948 in Monroe, WI. Jimmie joined the Navy toward the end of World War II. At the start of the Korean War, he was reactivated and served on the USS Bon Homme Richard as an ordinance mate.
Jimmie began his career at National Lock and moved to Mid-States Screw before leaving to form his own company. In 1983 Jimmie and Verna founded Rockford Secondaries. This company is now being run by the third generation of the Clark family.
Jimmie is survived by his children: Steve (Diane) Clark, Deborah (Duffey) Ainsworth and John Clark; grandsons Josh (Noelle) Clark, Duffey (Katie) Ainsworth; granddaughters Allison (Matt) Boone, Laura (William) Nelson, Kim Clark (Dan Engle), and Natalie Ainsworth; and 11 great grandchildren.
Jimmie was predeceased by his beloved wife of 72 years, Verna, parents John and Vida, brother Rex (Doris) Clark, Sisters and brothers-in-law Reba (Melvin) Knudson, Ramona (Ralph) Mooney, Norma (Everett) Hoglund, Roberta (Bertie) Wells, great granddaughter Gemma, many in-laws, and other relatives.
A graveside service will take place for Jimmie on Monday, October 3rd, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. in Willwood Burial Park. Procession will begin at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL at 12 p.m. to Willwood Burial Park where Jimmie will be buried next to Verna. A very special thank you to Wesley Willows staff, especially Amy, for the love and care shown to Jimmie through his time there.
