Jim was a leader for over 50 years in the Rockford real estate business, originally employed with Bliss Adelman Realty and later founded his agency and home building company, Jim Dixon Realtors, in 1979. Jim volunteered with the Rockford Noon Lions Club, always returning to Rockford to help with the annual Rose Day, and especially loved to help with the annual S.M. & S.F. Club Kick in For Cancer event.

Jim’s was an outdoor enthusiast, with a passion for fishing, especially in Northern Canada, on the Chippewa Flowage, Wisconsin, Lake Michigan, the Florida Keys, and the Gulf of Mexico. He loved hunting of all types and most recently enjoyed a very memorable elk hunting trip in Idaho.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Frank) Dixon-Davit and Kim Dixon; his granddaughters, Anna Davit and Maggie Davit; special friends Craig Shelton, Don Kinsman, Norm Royster and Jimmy Vitale, numerous nieces and nephews, and was especially close to his nephew Dave (Cheryl) Dixon. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Clarence Dixon and Flossie Dixon Miller, step-father, Paul Miller, and brothers John Dixon and Robert Dixon.
His family would like to thank Northern Illinois Hospice, especially Natalie and Dr. John Meyers for their kind care and understanding of Jim’s unique sense of humor; special friend and caregiver Annie Anthony for the love, care and support she not only showed Jim, but also to his family; and close friends Craig, Don, Norm, and Yvonne, who were there at a moment’s notice. The family also thanks the team of caring and compassionate women who took care of Jim, especially the last week of his life: Shelese, Sarah, and Cathy.

In lieu of a traditional funeral, his family invites friends to a celebration of Jim’s life on Saturday, February 24th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Stone Eagle Tavern, 6445 E.
