Jim A. Brown, 55 of Rockford, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family. Born July 21, 1955 in Spring Valley, IL the son of Floyd and Anne (Piascyk) Brown. Graduated from Byron High School and entered into the US Army. He married his loving wife Carolyn Lyons on May 13, 1989 in Loves Park. Jim worked for 35 years at the US Post Office retiring on July 31, 2010. He was a former member of the American Legion, an avid Harley Davidson rider, enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling to Las Vegas and the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He was a kind and giving man who embraced life and especially enjoyed his time with his children and grandchildren, he will be missed by all. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kim Kirkland and OSF Hospice for all of their wonderful care and support. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Rockford; children, James (Joy) of Boise, ID, Jason (Jennifer) of Rockford and Mindy (Katie) Brown of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Adam, Rose, Christian, Emma and Chase; siblings, Brad (Jeanne) Brown of TX, Kathy (Bob) Reitz, Shirley (Roger) Klotz and Mike(Stacy) Brown all of Winnebago His Godson Caleb Brown and lots of Nieces and Nephews and a very special sister-in-law, Kim (Frank) Kittoe and 2 very special nieces, Clarissa and Sharlett Kittoe. Funeral services Tuesday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory,Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation Monday, March 21, 2011 at the funeral home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the OSF Cancer Center, 5666 E. State St. Rockford, IL.
