Jerry V. Stastny, Jr.

Jerry V. Stastny Jr., 83, Rockford, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He was born April 2, 1931, in Chicago, the son of Jerry V. and Hilda (Massa) Stastny, Sr. He attended Steimnetz High School in Chicago and then joined the Marine Corp in 1948. Jerry married Alice Theresa Glen in 1953. Together they had a daughter, Dawn. Alice passed away in October, 1965. He then married Sarah "Jeri" Geraldine Claassen Jenkins in April, 1967. She passed away in January, 2005. Jerry was a past member of the Elks Club, the Lions Club, and the Moose Lodge. He was formerly a member of New Hope Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, where he served as a trustee. He had been a Boy Scout leader in Chicago and in Naperville. Jerry volunteered for the Head Start program in Des Moines, Iowa.
Survived by his daughter, Dawn (Rick) Williams of Rockford; his stepsons, Richard (Vickie) Jenkins of Virginia, Dale (Sally) Jenkins of Des Moines, IA, Thomas (Miriam) Jenkins of Jedburgh, Scotland, and Jay (Cindy) Jenkins of Missouri; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren including Alexandra, Zackary, Joshua, and Zydon; his sisters, June Levoe and Carol Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday. October 11, 2014, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, with Reverend Min Chea officiating. Visitation will be from noon until time of service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services with private family burial in Aux Sable Grove Cemetery in Na-au-say, IL.
