Jeannie Gilley

Virginia "Jeannie" Gilley, at the age 77, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, after a short illness.

Jeannie was born July 18, 1947, daughter of Joseph and Virginia Mannone of Rockford. She married Danny Gilley of Rockford on February 3, 1972, after meeting each other working as cosmetologists at W Bergner's Hair Salon. The couple spent 52 years together and had 2 children. Jeannie was a loving wife and mother. She spent her early years working as a hairdresser and then becoming a full time homemaker. 

Jeannie is survived by her husband, Dan Gilley and 2 children, Christopher (Tanya) Gilley and Jennifer (Gilley) Bunting. Grandchildren, Emma, Charlie, Arianna, Antonio, Sofia, Rosa, Gracie, and Gabriella. Great-grandchildren, Giovanni and Harlo. Special family members, Donna Donnelli-Gilley, and Mike Bunting.

Predeceased by her brother, Anthony Mannone and his surviving wife, Cathy Mannone, and their children, Michelle Camacho, Gina Mannone (deceased), Lynette and Maria Mannone, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by her brother, Joe (Sheryl) Mannone and their children, Sarah and Paul Mannone. 

Survived by her sister, Anna (Larry) Giambeluca and their 2 children, Teresa (Kevin) Sawyer and  their children, and Joseph (Erika) Giambeluca.

Predeceased by mother-in-law, Betty Gilley, brother-in-law, Ronnie (Rosie) Gilley and survived by their 2 children, Rodney (Carrie) Gilley and Rhonda Gilley (Eric).

Survived by brother-in-law, Randy (Debbie) Gilley and predeceased by brother-in-law, Walt Davis. Jeannie is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Rockford, IL 61103. Burial will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago, IL.
