Jeanne M. Stickels, 85 of Rockford passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2007. Born April 8, 1922 in Rockford to Claude and Sara (Fleming) Stickels. Jean went on to graduate from Rockford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She joined the Nurse Corps with the United States Army and served in WWII in Okinawa. After returning home, Jean attended the Univ. of Iowa where she gained a Masters in Administration. She worked as the Director of Nursing at St. Luke Hospital in Kansas City, KS and later as Director of Nursing at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL. Jean was then employed by the International Division of American Hospital Supply Corporation, working in Saudi Arabia, Iran and South Korea. Jean was a member of Phi Beat Kappa and President of the Gamma chapter of Sigma Beta Theta Tau. After her retirement Jean volunteered her time at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was also a lifelong member of the Court Street Methodist Church. Jean is survived by her Sister- In- Law Alvina Stickels, Nephews Bob (Karen) Maness, Greg Moore, Doug (Cindy) Moore, Rod (Denise) Moore and Brad (Cheryl) Stickels. Nieces Sheri (Brad) Pearson, Donna Taylor, Mary Paquet and Cyndi (Rick) Armstrong and several great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Colin Stickels, sister Claudie Moore and brother- in- law Ed Moore. Special thanks to the Intensive Care Unit and the B4 wing at Rockford Memorial Hospital for their special care and attention. Funeral Service will be in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Kenney officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Willwood Burial Park.
