Jeanette E. Schuknecht (1940-2024)

Jeanette Schuknecht, 84, of Rockford, died Friday, December 27, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born July 25, 1940 to Walter and Emma (Guebert) Ruedlinger of Affton, MO. Jeanette was a loving, feisty, wicked smart, faith-filled woman who loved her family immensely. She was a gifted pianist, and a very fast typist who was proud of her years working in “Checkerboard Square” for Ralston Purina. She married Jerold Schuknecht in June, 1966 in Affton. After starting their family while in Lafayette IN, she also loved on many kids by providing in-home daycare during their time in Belvidere, IL. She then learned a whole new field when she returned to the office in Fresno, CA: commercial property management, a field she worked in even after moving to Denver CO, and until her retirement. She was a constant support to husband Jerry through 40+ years as the principal’s wife. She worked through many lunches to be at her kid’s games. She sewed many of the kids clothes and many other things over the years, up to and including masks for adult kids and grandkids during the covid pandemic. After retirement, she enjoyed travelling the country with Jerry. And they attended as many of their grandchildren’s games, performances, and Christmas programs as they could.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her parents, her brother Walter Jr., and her daughter-in-law, Carrie. She is survived by her sons, Jonathan and Joel, daughter Jacqueline (Nicholas) Stark, and her five grandchildren: Xander and Zoe Schuknecht, and Alexander, Madeline, and David Stark.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Olive Lutheran Church (2001 N Alpine, Rockford, IL) at 1:30 PM on Friday, January 3rd, with visitation starting at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Lambs Tuition fund at Our Redeemer Lutheran School, 416 W Geneva, Delavan, WI where her grandchildren have all attended.
