Rockford

ROCKFORD – Jeaneal June Lantz, a beloved member of the Rockford/Roscoe community, passed away peacefully at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 19, 2024. Jeaneal was born on June 27, 1937, in Rockford to Paul B. Swanson and Bernice Swanson (Elkins).

Jeaneal dedicated many years of her life to her work as a Quality Control Supervisor at Anderson Packaging and later spent over 11 years working as an Office Administrator at Arlington Memorial Cemetery before retiring in 2002. Jeaneal had many passions in life, such as reading, quilting, embroidery, gardening, and sewing. Jeaneal was known for the custom slippers she lovingly crafted for every family member — a true testament to her creativity and care. She also held a special place in her heart for dogs, especially her two cherished dogs, Callie and Sassy, who predeceased her.

As a member of First Congregational Community Church in Roscoe, IL, Jeaneal found joy and fulfillment in her faith community. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Jeaneal had a wonderful sense of humor, the warmest smile, and an innate ability to see the good in everyone she met. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

Jeaneal is survived by her children, Cheryl Maltz, Colleen (Jeffrey Schroder) Kruse, John (Teresa) Lantz; her grandchildren, Thomas (Jamie) Lantz, Daniel (Mandy) Maltz, Erica (Fred Collin) Maltz, Ryan (Natalie) Kruse, Katie (Jordan Torres) Kruse, Tonja (Andy) Cline, Jason Lantz; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Ryan, Joshua, Jacob, Revy, Colin, Evan, Aubrey, Norah, Hannah, Ally, and Zach. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Gwenda Lantz; her siblings, Don (Judy) Swanson, Brenda Kay Adams; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Robin Lantz, her grandchildren Michael and Melissa, and her sister Rosetta Estes.
