Jean E. Urbas-Porter

Jean E. Urbas-Porter, 97, of Poplar Grove, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022. She was born March 15, 1924 in Chillicothe, Ohio, the daughter of Walter Whitney and Mahela (Bowman) Schiewetz. Jean married Robert Porter in 2006. She was a realtor for over 30 years, and later in life became a licensed private pilot at the age of 70. Jean was a member of the Ninety – Nine’s Women’s Pilot Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association. Aviation was a passion for Jean, she co-owned a 4 seater Skyhawk plane with her son Bob. She enjoyed trips to the Sun N Fun Aerospace Expo in Florida and the EAA AirVenture expo in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Jean enjoyed cats, genealogy, boating on Lake Geneva, water and snow skiing, and international traveling.
Jean is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Robert (Dagmara Peliks) Urbas and Susan Urbas; stepsons, Tom Porter and Tim Porter; and 1 step grandson, Michal Orjzanowski. She is predeceased by her parents, and first husband, Adolph Urbas. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Transitions Hospice and ANAM Care.
