Jean Claire Mathison

Jean Claire Mathison, 82, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 18, 1934 in Rockford, the daughter of George and Stella (Boyes) Schroeder. She married the love of her life, Darwin Mathison on December 10, 1953. She worked at Bergner-Weise Company for many years and was blessed with many friends from her time spent there. She spent her last few years volunteering at the Mercy Health Auxiliary Gift Shop. Jean had a love for the wondrous joys of life, family, friends, travels and past times. She believed in magic of dragons and collected many of over the years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her children, Douglas (Mary) Mathison, Deborah (Peter) Vitale, and DeAnna (Shane) Laing; her grandchildren,Philip (Tad) Mathison, Leah (Jordan) Mathison, Chrissy (Sovalon) Torres, Peter Vitale, Cassandra Vitale, Sarah (Chris) Robbins and Brandon (Megan) Laing; 4 great grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Darwin Mathison, parents, and Little Bean.
