Jay Rush Maddox, 80, Rockton, passed away April 4, 2017, at his home. He was born April 21, 1936, in Vandergrift, PA, the son of John K. and Elizabeth Milliron Maddox. Graduate of Vandergrift High School, Penn State University, and University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Jay served in the U.S. Army at Fitzsimons Army Hospital, Denver, Colorado. He was employed by Central Bank of Denver for 9 years. Jay moved to Rockford in 1973, to join the Trust Department of American National Bank, which became AmCore Trust Company, retiring in 2002. Jay served on the Boards of Midway Village Museum Center, The Mill Foundation, Winnebago County Bar Association, University Club of Rockford, Rockford Memorial Hospital Development Foundation, CW Blazer Foundation and Wesley Willows Board of Directors. He was a member of University Club of Rockford and former member of Forest Hills Country Club, Mauh-nah-tee-see Country Club, Rockford Cosmopolitan Club, and Civil War Round Table.
Survived by his wife of 23 years, Linda; daughters, Lisa (Michael) Cervenka and Kathy (Corey) Anderson of Geneva, IL.; step-daughters, Gena (Joseph) Angelino of Schaumburg, and Jill (Corey) Urso of Stoughton, WI; grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsey Cervenka, Emily (Ian) Brown, Erik Anderson, Allison Phillip and Katharine Angelino, and Olivia Urso. Predeceased by sisters, Marilyn Salem of Naples, FL and Betty May Beck of Vandergrift, PA
Jay’s fondest memories were of good times spent with his golfing buddies and friends and the many people he met during his Trust Professional career.
His family extends deep appreciation to our wonderful, supportive friends, Heartland Hospice and to adopted family and neighbors Bob and Jean Leach.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, with Reverend Dan Herman officiating. Visitation will be Monday, April 10, 2017, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
