Jay F. Sandwick, 83, of Rockford, IL died at home on December 19, 2020. He was born on March 31, 1937, in Rockford, IL, to John F. McFadden and Luella Bell Kaiser. Jay was a 1955 All American Swimmer on the Rockford West High School Swim Team and still holds the fourth best time for the 200 Freestyle with the IHSA. He married Guadalupe M. Rodriguez on April 25, 1959 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Jay worked as a typesetter for many years and then worked in automobile sales.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Guadalupe; daughter, Elizabeth (Joseph) Sweeney; sons, Christopher J. Sandwick, Phillip T. (Deborah) Sandwick and George G. (Debra) Sandwick; grandchildren, Joseph, Jennifer, Connor, Samuel, Isabella, Mark, Matthew and Maria, 9 great-grandchildren and sister Carolyn. Preceded in death by his parents.

A walk thru visitation will take place on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108, with a funeral service to follow. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Please wear masks and social distance.
