Jay Burdette Brock

Jay Burdette Brock, 29, of Poplar Grove, passed away on May 20, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital. He was born on September 6, 1992, in Elk Grove Village, the son of Jay and Theresa (Caster) Brock. He graduated from Lake Park High School, class of 2010. Jay was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church and SPREAD, a religious class at St. Rita. He loved phonebooks, Elmo, music, gameshows, and sneaking off to McDonald’s with his sister. He stole everyone’s heart, and his eyes and smile would brighten your day. He was very active with his nephews and had a giggle that would make you smile. Baby Jay was a sweet, loving, funny and caring young man, that never gave up no matter what was thrown at him.

Jay is survived by his parents, Jay and Theresa Brock; sister, Jacqueline (Noah) Kosinski; nephews, Joseph, Theodore, Mason, Remington, and Levi; grandparents, Burdette Caster and Pat Brock; uncles, Johnny (Linda) Brock, Ronald Brock, Tommy (Carolyn) Brock, Timmy (Tammy) Brock, and Dewayne Brock; and many cousins, friends and loved ones. He is predeceased by his angel siblings; grandma, Marjorie Caster; grandpa, John Brock; Aunt, Bernice Caster; and Uncle, Tommy Caster; and his great-grandparents.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Swedish American ICU, and to those who sent get well cards, blessings and prayers for Jay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11:00 am, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 604 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, IL 61111. There will also be a short visitation at St. Bridget’s on Friday, May 27, from 10:00 am until time of Mass.

A night before visitation will be on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, with a 7:45 pm rosary, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108.

Burial will take place in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago.
