Jason Mitchell Cuttill, 33, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Loves Park, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2009. Jason was born February 20, 1976 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Lonnie Kevin Cuttill and Barbara E. (Huntley) Helm.



Jason graduated from Harlem High School in 1994 and received his Associate Degree while in the Navy. He enlisted with the United States Navy in May 1999and was an Aviation Electriciansmate working on Strike Fighter Aircraft, from January 2000 until March 2002, he was with the Strike Fighter Squadron 122 (VFA-122), the Fighting Redcocks, attached to CARRIER AIR WING ELEVEN (CAG-22), deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom onboard CVN-70, the USS CARL VINSON, during which time his home station was Naval Air Station LeMoore, from April 2002 until January 2004 he was with the Strike Fighter Squadron 147 (VFA-147), the Argonauts, attached to CARRIER AIR WING NINE (CAG-9), deployed with CVN-70, the USS CARL VINSON, during which time his home station was the Naval Air Station LeMoore, from March 2004 until September 2006, he was with the Strike Fighter Squadron 143 (VFA-143), the Pukin Dogs, attached to CARRIER AIR WING SEVEN (CAG-7), deployed onboard CVN-69, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, during which time his home station was the naval Air Station Oceana VA, from September 2006 until November 2009 he was attached to the CENTER FOR NAVAL AVIATION AND TECHNICAL TRAINING UNIT, OCEANA, VA. Jason was awarded two personnel medals, Navy Achievement Medals, December 2003 and November 2005. He loved riding his Harley, spending time with his family and his yellow Lab Capone, and was a die hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.



Jason is survived by his mother, Barbara E. Barb (Raymond) Helm; father, Lonnie Kevin (Roxanne) Cuttill; faithful companion, Capone; brothers, Jeremy (Kelli) Cuttill, Nicholas (Brittany Neubauer) Helm, Jason Barry (Jenny Hettinger) Cuttill, Allyn Cuttill, Lonnie (Tiffany) Cuttill; sister Angela(Yvette) Cuttill; grandparents, Alice Brandon, Wayne (Carol) Cuttill, and Raymond Helm, Sr.; special nephew, Daryan Michael Cuttill, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, step-sisters, and very close friends. Jason was predeceased by his grandparents, Norman Huntley, Sr., Carole Keller, and Margaret Peggy Helm, and his brother Shad Michael Cuttill.



Funeral services for Jason will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Forest City Baptist Church, 4241 Pepper Dr. in Rockford, with Pastor Tim Ramsden of Community Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 23 from 5 8 p.m. at the church, and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel.
