Janina "Nina" Zabinski

Janina “Nina” Zabinski, 81 of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, with her family by her side. Nina was born February 28, 1938, in Radom, Poland; daughter of Julian and Bronislawa (Lipski) Lewandowski. Nina worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling to Poland and other destinations in Europe. Nina especially cherished her time spent with family. She is survived by her son Gerard (Sylvia) Zabinski; her daughter, Ilona (Michael) Jacobs; her grandchildren, Charlie and Sadie Zabinski and Cole (Nina) and Kevin Jacobs; her brothers, Robert and Waldemar “Wojtek” (Wanda) Lewandowski and close cousin, Donna Ponski. Predeceased by her parents and sister-in-law, Stefania Lewandowski.
The family would like to thank Nina’s caregiver Magda and OSF Hospice for their compassion and care. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday the 11th of October at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 201 Buckbee Street, Rockford, IL 61104 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OSF Hospice or Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in Nina’s name. Arrangements entrusted to Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
