Janice Mccaslin Conn

Janice McCaslin Conn, 66, of Rockford, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. Born on April 2, 1951, the daughter of George and Ella Mihm. Janice was a 1969 graduate of Boylan Central Catholic High School. She had a very strong faith and enjoyed attending St. Mary Parish in Oregon, IL and St. Bridget Parish in Rockford. Janice married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Gary McCaslin on June 6, 1970. She lost Gary in 2006. She remarried, November 24, 2012 to Donald Conn of Polo, IL. They enjoyed travelling and being together, watching birds and local wildlife. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting with friends. She lost Don in 2014.
Janice enjoyed working for the Harlem School District as a Para Educator and cashier at Target in Machesney Park.
Janice is survived by her son, David (Kellie) McCaslin of Florida; daughter, Jaclyn Green of Oklahoma; grandchildren, David and Audri Green of Oklahoma, Lily, Blake, Baron and Debbie Kate McCaslin of Florida; brother, Merrill (Sheila) Mihm of Rockford and sister Veronica Loan of Oregon, IL; step-children, Steve (Laura) Conn of Colorado, Tim (Marie) Conn of IL, Joyce (Jeff) Danielle of Southern IL, Tammy (Steve) Alger of Missouri, 16 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren; Nieces, Tina (Ed) Bettner, Tammy Jo Loan and Shelly Ann (Drew) Johnson; Nephews, Duane O’Dell, CJ (Sarah) Peterson and Matthew Mihm. Predeceased by her parents, George and Ella Mihm.
Special “Thank You” to her sister, Veronica Loan and her nieces, Tina (Ed) Bettner and Tammy Jo Loan for helping to care for her. Thank you to Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Serenity Hospice Center in Oregon, IL for their staff and her wonderful care. Also, a special Thank You to her friends from Breast Cancer Awareness.
Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home with a Rosary at 6:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Janice’s name to Serenity Hospice Center, 1658 S.
