Janice L. CondonLoving wife, mother, and grandmother Janice L. Condon, 79, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2009 in her home surrounded by her family. Janice was born October 21, 1929 at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, PA, the daughter of Howard L. and Elizabeth (Griffith) Graff. Janice was raised in Norwood, PA, and graduated from Glen-Nor High School in 1947. She graduated from the nursing program at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and then began her nursing career in the operating room at Taylor Hospital. Janice served as a registered nurse in the Army from June 27, 1952 until January 28, 1953. She later moved to Appleton, WI where she met Eugene Condon through a local bridge club. Janice and Gene were married in Appleton on January 8, 1976. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church for eight years. Janice was an excellent bridge player and a member of the Rockford Bridge Club. She was a wonderful homemaker, very proud of her home, and lended her artistic talents to drawing, painting, stenciling, and sewing. Janices treasures in her life were church, family and bridge. Janice is survived by her husband, Gene: children, Ralph (Paige) Rizzo, Glenn (Jennie) McVickar, Eric (Ying) McVickar, Jill (Donald) Waldoch, Kelley (Kevin) Dickson, Colleen (Carl) Christenson, and Kevin (Joanna) Condon; 17 grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Dolores) Condon and Roger Horky; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Jake) Schorn and Joan Schmidt. Janice was predeceased by her parents; sister, Alice Kaufmann; brother-in-law, Earl Schmidt; and sister-in-law, Peggy Horky. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 412 N. Church St., with Reverend Pamela M. Hillenbrand officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 7:00 P.M. 8:30 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
