Janet Marie Brown

Janet M. Brown, 84, of Rockford, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Born on May 26, 1930, daughter of James and Erma (Hughes) Gallagher, in Rockford, IL. She graduated from Bishop Muldoon High School. Janet married Richard S. Brown on October 25, 1952, at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Rockford. She was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church in Rockford. Janet is survived by her four children, Kathleen M. Brown, James (Lori) Brown, “devoted caregiver” Patricia Brown, Terry (MaryAnn) Brown; grandchildren, Trisha (Brad) Cary, Tyler, Matthew, Jamie, Brittany, Patrick; great granddaughter, Kaylen Cary; brothers, Jack (Mary) Gallagher, Mike (Karen) Gallagher; sister-in-law, Sally Gallagher, and numerous nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Richard; brother, Jim Gallagher; infant sister, Patricia; and great granddaughter, Ava Lee Cary. Janet’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. James Woodman for all his kindness and care. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church of Rockford, with burial to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 7:00pm, Monday, January 19, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, and will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, at the church.
