Janet L. Choppie

Janet L. Choppie 67 of Rockford passed away Tuesday July 23, 2013 in her home after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born June 22, 1946 in Rockford. The daughter of Vincent and Angela (DiGiovanni) Ward. She graduated from West High School class of 64. She then went on to attend NIU where she became a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She then married Carmin Choppie on August 12, 1967. She was a member of St Bernadette Church and Choir, Chi Omega Sorority and the West alumni committee for many years. Janet loved socializing with her friends and family, being with her grandkids and Dom’s Restaurant in the afternoon. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Survivors include her Husband, Carmin. Two daughters, Paula (Brian) Smith of Belvidere and Dianna Hathhorn of Springfield, IL. Grandchildren, Maria and Sarah Smith. Father, Vincent Ward of Phoenix, AZ. Brother, Richard Ward of Phoenix, AZ. Special Sister-in-law, Louise (Karl) Frost and Special Brother-in-law, John (Diane) Choppie and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her Mother Angela. Mass of Christian burial at 10am Saturday July 27 in St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Burial in St Mary Cemetery, Rockford. Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Friday in the funeral home with rosary at 7pm. Arrangements completed by Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Ave..
