Janet K. Hodge

Janet K. Hodge, 80, of Rockford passed away Friday, February 9, 2018. Born January 4, 1938, in Peoria, the daughter of Everett and Vivian (Phillips) Hastings. Janet married Gerald E. Hodge on July 22, 1956, right after high school before he entered into the service. Janet worked for Pierce Chemical Company in customer service for 22 years, retiring in 1997. She enjoyed volunteering her time with the Habitat for Humanity store, the Rockford Memorial Hospital gift shop and Court Street United Methodist Church. She helped organize the church’s well attended Thanksgiving Dinner for many years. Her passions included her family, the Green Bay Packers, the Phantom Regiment, Rottweilers and she loved spending time with people.
Survived by her son, William “Bill” E. Hodge; daughter, Laura (Neal Erickson) Grubb; grandchildren, Shannon (David) Lawlor, James Grubb, Chelsey Hodge and William A. Hodge; great-grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Lawlor, Peyton and Ethan Grubb and Boe Bastian; brother, Ron (Bev) Hastings and faithful companion, Bella. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Gerald and special friend, Robert E. Johnson.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. To express online condolences, please visit: www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
