Janet Biggs

Janet Biggs, 66, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Alpine Fireside Nursing Home. She was born on September 17, 1949 in Rockford, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Montalbano) Valaisis. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1967. She married the love of her life, Karl Biggs on May 19, 1969. Janet worked as a Librarian in the Rockford Public Schools for nearly 15 years, ending her career at Summerdale Elementary School. She loved working with the children, reading and acting out many books to them. She walked the Avon Breast Cancer walk 6 times, totaling nearly 240 miles. Nothing brought Janet more joy than playing and sharing new experiences with her two grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her husband, Karl; her daughters, Kimberly (Tim) Biggs, Melissa (Mark) Cornwell ; her grandchildren Cecilia and Kennedy; her brother Mike (Mary) Valaisis; and many cousins and wonderful friends. She is predeceased by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. A visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment private.
