Jane Hild , 88, of Rockford since 1960, died on August 11 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Jane was born April 9, 1919 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Oscar and Birdie (Zoeger) Brown and had graduated from Freeport High School. Jane married Carl Hild on September 10, 1960. Jane was employed as a secretary at Burgess Battery and later at Micro Switch in Freeport and was an executive secretary at Sundstrand Corp. in Rockford for 20 years. Jane loved to dance and was an avid Chicago Bulls and Chicago Cubs fan. She was active in the St. Joseph Catholic Church choir, the Freeport Choral Club and a member of the Freeport Bowling League. Jane volunteered at St. Francis Hospital in Freeport and was in charge of their gift shop. Upon her retirement she volunteered at the Rockford Art Museum as a receptionist and also volunteered at Provena St. Anne nursing Home for many years. She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, Provena St. Anne Sodality, Provena St. Anne Center Auxiliary and Sundstrand Retiree Association. Jane is survived by her brother, Robert Brown of Pecatonica, IL; her niece, Ronelle (Elden) Harms of Sun Prairie, WI; her nephew, Rex (Patty) Lender of Pecatonica, IL and her great-nieces, Ariel (Ben) Norquist, Ashlee Harms and Jillian Lender. Jane was preceded in death by her husband Carl (Sept. 9, 1988) and her parents. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at Cathedral of St. Peter. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 am 10:45 am at the Church. Burial will be private.
