Jan Kathleen Kilroy

Jan Kathleen Kilroy of Rockford, Illinois, formerly of Port Byron, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, November 19 th at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford following complications from surgery.             Jan Kathleen Schroeder was born on December 8, 1953 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Darrell and Shirley Schroeder.  She graduated from Riverdale High School in Port Byron, Illinois, Blackhawk College in Moline, Illinois, and the Moline Public Hospital School of Radiology, and she worked for many years in the radiology department at the Rock Island Arsenal, where she met her future husband.  Jan married Donald Kilroy on March 19, 1977 at Zion Lutheran Church in East Moline.  Jan is remembered and cherished as a kind, loving, and giving wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, great aunt and dear friend.  Jan was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, and she was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.             Jan greatly enjoyed time with her close family, showering the children in her day care with love and affection, exploring genealogy, creating beautiful photographic scrapbooks, travelling the west to Rocky Mountain National Park and Yellowstone National Park, and speaking with joy and pride of her son and daughter.             Jan is survived by her loving husband, Don, her son Kevin and his fianca©e Andrea, and her daughter Kelsey.  She is also survived by her caring parents, Darrell and Shirley Schroeder of Port Byron, Illinois, her sisters Lori Schroeder of East Moline, Illinois, Lynn Johnsen of Moline, Illinois, Cheryl Hatcher (Rick) of Lexington, Kentucky, and her brother Thomas Schroeder (Roberta) of Port Byron, Illinois.   Jans survivors also include her two nieces and four nephews, her two great nieces, her parents in law, her two sisters in law, her bother in law and their children.  Additionally, Jan is lovingly remembered by her many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Jans family will receive friends at her visitation on Sunday, November 22 nd , from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 Mulford Road in Rockford.  The funeral will be held on Monday, November 23 rd at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Mulford Road in Rockford.  A luncheon will follow the service.  Jan will be buried following a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, 17628 Hubbard Road in East Moline, Illinois.             Memorials for Jan may be contributed to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran Church.
