James W. Curtiss, 70, of Loves Park died Friday, April 17, 2015 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born May 10, 1944 in Rockford, the son of Myron R. and Genevieve “Gen” (Gucciardo) Curtiss. Graduated from Harlem High School and married his loving wife, Mary Carson on August 6, 1966. Was employed by Rockford Oil, Ringdahl Auto Parts and Eric J. Gustafson.
Jim was a true handyman, starting and finishing many projects in his home. He enjoyed working in the yard and had a knack for landscaping, photography, loved motorcycles and cherished his dogs: Jennie, Annie, Misty, Budd and Coco. He was a member of the Riverside Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and an active student of the Bible. Jim was a great man with a kind and caring soul, he will be missed dearly. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; brother, John (Cheryl) Curtiss; brother-in-law, William (Lisa) Carson; sister-in-law, Jeanie Carson; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Lincoln) Lee, Joshua (K.D.) Curtiss, Andy (Nikki) Stine, Tammy Carson, Bridgett Clayton and Jeremy Stine; cousins, Carole (Ben) Stine and Linda (Jimmy) Robinson; special friends, Steve (Joy) White, Jim (Sherie) Lippert, Richard Sullivan, Dick (Deb) Piper, Andi (Jeri) Landsee and his very best friend, Coco. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Eugene and Velma Carson. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to DaVita Churchview, Dr. Sankaran and the nurses and staff at OSF Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Clinic.
