Rockford- James V. Frion, 70, died Monday, January 03, 2011 at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born July 11, 1940 in Chippewa Falls, WI, the son of Velmour and Josephine (Tusken) Frion. Married his loving wife, Diana Pohl on April 19, 1963. James was a United States Veteran serving in the Navy from 1958 - 1978. He was an instructor for the Naval Gun School from 1979-2009, at the Great Lakes Naval Base. He and Diana loved ballroom dancing. They belonged to the Cotillion, Top of the Town, Astende and the USA Dance Clubs. James also enjoyed golfing, flower gardening and yard work and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend and will be missed dearly by all. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff and nurses on CCU at SwedishAmerican. nbsp;Survivors include his wife of Rockford, daughter, Tonya (Scott) Gardner of Las Vegas, NV; son, Thomas Tom of Rockford and grandchildren, Allison, Hayley and Grant and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary. Funeral service Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Northwest Site, 4881 Kilburn Ave, Rockford. Visitation Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and continues on Thursday in church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
