James Michael Hoyt

Rockford-James Michael Hoyt, 78, died unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born May 4, 1931 in Lima, Ohio, son of Carl D. and Mary Hoyt. Veteran of the Korean Conflict ,1951-1954, serving in the United States Air Force.  Married his loving wife Rhea Myers on Aug. 10, 1957 in Oak Harbor, Ohio by Rev. Edwin Meyers, Rheas father. Jim was a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education, University of Michigan with a Masters Degree in Education and Northern Illinois University with a Certification of Advanced Study. He was the principal for Plano High School and Orangeville High School retiring in 1993. Survivors include his beloved wife, Rhea Hoyt; beloved daughters, Michelle (Thomas) Watson and Dana (Terry) Meacham; his delightful granddaughter, Hannah Jane Meacham and wonderful step-granddaughters, Lauren and Carolyn Watson, all of Rockford and his dear sister, Mary Ellen (William) Watkins of Tallahassee, FL. Memorial service Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials to UMCOR or Christ the Carpenter Food Pantry. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford chapel is assisting the family.
