James L. Martin, 76, a resident of Rockford for 30 years, died on November 8, 2007 In his home.nbsp; Jim was born on September 18, 1931 in Bradford, Pennsylvania, the son of James Clifford and Florence (Cotton) Martin and had attended Bradford High School. nbsp; Jim was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950 1954.nbsp; He was a former Maryland State Trooper and had worked as a salesman for Twin City Supply in Loves Park until his retirement in 1993.nbsp; Jim was fond of fishing and woodworking and loved his faithful dogs Scarlet and the late Beau. nbsp; Jim is survived by his companion of 23 years, Nikki Shoemaker of Rockford; his two sons, Jay (Diane) Martin of Maple Wood, MN and Jack (Janet) Martin of Woodbury, MN; his daughter, Lynn (Fred) Falk of Woodbury, MN; his sister, Clair Smeigh of Bradford, PA; his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.nbsp; Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gloria Rausch of Amherst, NY. nbsp; A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 3 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Dr. William R. Kerr, Sr. officiating.nbsp; Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 pm until time of service. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Nikki Shoemaker for a memorial fund to be established at a later date. nbsp;Family and friends may extend online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfuneralhome.com.nbsp;nbsp;
