James L. Hesselberth, 73, of Rockford passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017. Born October 17, 1943, in Dana, Illinois, the son of Albert and Zora (Boon) Hesselberth. Jim worked for Ogilby Transfer and Storage Sales and retired from Estwing Manufacturing. In retirement, Jim thoroughly enjoyed substitute teaching with Rockford Public School District 205. Jim was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He will always be remembered for his extraordinary sense of humor and his ability to bring joy and happiness to those around him. He was a member of Centennial United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Rockford Barbershoppers.
Jim is survived by his son, Michael; brothers, Jerald (Judy) Hesselberth and Paul (Carolyn) Hesselberth; sister, Marjorie Cusac; special friend, Carol Byers and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and brothers, William Hesselberth and Frederick Hesselberth.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 North Rockton Avenue. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim’s name to Centennial United Methodist Church.
