James K. (Jim) Harty, 67, of Rockford died at 5:35 P.M. Monday, September 22, 2008 at Nelson Debes Sub-acute Care Center following a battle with Parkinsons Disease. Born September 7, 1941 in Shullsburg, WI to James T. and Ella Harty. After graduating from Shullsburg High School, Jim served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He enjoyed cooking at the St. Rita Fish Fry, woodworking and going out to breakfast with his best friend, Joe Schwartz. He retired in 1996 after 31 years of service at Chrysler Corporation. Survivors include his wife, Jan and his son Brian; brothers, Michael (Shirley) of Portage, WI, Joe (Deb) of Freeport, Patrick (Lauri) of Genesee Depot, WI, Andy of Battle Creek, MI, Tom (Mary) of Whitewater, WI, and Tim (Heidi) of New Berlin, WI; sisters, Sharon (Mike) Ennis of Santa Fe, TX, Mary (Steve) Ubersox of Cherry Valley and Cherry (Paul) Hingtgen of Colgate, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special friend Les Voorhees of Rockford. Predeceased by his parents, grandparents and brother, Frank. Jimmys smile will forever be remembered by those who knew him. Visitation on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 4-8 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Belvidere, IL, corner of Appleton and Jackson. A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, September 27th at the same location. Arrangements were done by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
