James "Jim" M. Dixon

James “Jim” M. Dixon, 73, of Rockford, IL, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019.

Jim was born June 24, 1945 in Rockford, IL, son of James Sr. and Esther (Erb) Dixon. He graduated Boylan High School, Class of 1963. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and loved sports, especially golf. He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, which included many of his Boylan classmates. Jim will be dearly missed by many.

Surviving relatives include his daughters, Kim (Martin) Mecum and Heidi (Juan) Serrano; grandchildren, Brenten (Kirby) Witherby, Alyssa (Ryan) Simmons, Ivan, Audra, Kenzie and Macyn Mecum, Andrew, Mark, Christopher, Stephanie, Allison and Hannah Serrano; great-grandchildren, Emerson, Ander and Cullen Witherby, Declan and Mavis Simmons; sister, Helen Stuffler and brother, Ed Dixon; numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, John and Bill Dixon; sisters, Pat Earnhart, Mary and Maureen Dixon.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. A private family graveside service will conclude at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Health Cancer Research Center of Rockford.
