James “Jim” L. Deill, 90, Rockford, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 8, 1931, in Rockford, the son of Fred and Lillian (Holquist) Deill. He was a graduate of Rockford West High School, class of 1950. Jim served 4 years in the Navy, which included 3 1/2 years in the reserves. He married Juanice P. Lamb on November 22, 1952. She passed away in 2004. Jim worked as a carpenter before going into business as Century Wholesale Supply. He later became a partner in R & M Sales and Pierce Laminated Products for many years prior to his retirement in 1996. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran church, where he served as a Trustee several times. Jim had several antique automobiles and attended many car shows through the years. After retirement, he spent a lot of time fine tuning his old cars. He enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in his Florida home.
Survived by his sons, Ken (Jeannette) Deill and John Deill, both of Rockford; his daughters, Sharon (Ron) DeGiovanni and Sue (Ted) Steelman both of Glasgow, KY; his grandchildren, John Ross, Marc and Julie DeGiovanni, Jennifer (Jason) Creviston, James M. Deill (Stacey Cooper), Nick and Natalie Steelman; his great-granddaughter, Raven Ross. Predeceased by his wife, his parents, and his brothers, Robert and Eugene Deill.
