James “Jim” Henry Hellmich, 90, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022. He was born August 5, 1932, in Greensburg, IN, the son of Albert and Luella (Meyers) Hellmich. He was a veteran of the Army serving during the Korean War. Jim graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He married Jo A. Davis in Wheaton on September 10, 1977. Jim worked as the Director of Dairy Products Procurement for Kraft Foods retiring after 36 years. He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church for many years. Jim was also active in many activities as Wesley Willows.
Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jo; his sons, Greg (Lisa) of Cambridge, WI and their children, Michaele, Jake and Luke and Andy (Maura) of Palos Park and their children Drew, Matthew, and Bryan; his great-grandson, Leo Hellmich; his brother, Carl (Katha) Hellmich of Alabama; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his siblings, John Ed, Mary Lou Richards, Bill Hellmich, Anne Hall.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Christ United Methodist Church, Alpine Center, 4509 Highcrest Rd. Rockford with Reverend Jane Eesley officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 P.M. until the time of service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will take place at a later date in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or to Wesley Willows. Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family. Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
