James "Jim" Eugene Day

James “Jim” Eugene Day, 53, Belvidere, passed away September 19, 2017. He was born February 19, 1964, in Rockford, the son of Gene and Marge (Johnson) Day. Jim graduated from Belvidere High School class of 1982. He attended Rock Valley College and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in aerospace engineering. Jim received his MBA from Cardinal Stritch University. He married Cindy LaLoggia in Rockford on June 11, 1988. Jim was a long time member of the Cathedral of St. Peter where he was very active. He worked for Quality Metal Finishing and Shafer Gear. He was most recently employed by Woodward Governor. Jim enjoyed biking, golfing, and anything associated with the outdoors. He was an avid Cub fan and an Iowa State Cyclones fan, but most of all Jim loved spending time with his family.
Survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Hannah, Michael, Katie, and Johnny; his parents, Marge and Gene Day; his mother-in-law, Georgina (LaLoggia) Caywood; his sisters, Janie (Rob) Feldman and Judy (Mike) Carpenter; his in laws, Jeanine (Pat) Williams, Michael (Mary) LaLoggia, Virginia (Kerry) Burd, Lisa (Mike) St. John, and Jenifer (Brian) Maier; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St. Rockford. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
