James J. Mclaughlin

James J. McLaughlin, 70, Rockford, died Friday, August 16, 2013 in his home. Born August 3, 1943 in Kansas City, KS, son of James R. and Gladys G. Perry McLaughlin. Married Lois M. Haley in Benton, IL in 1963., Employed by the State of Illinois as a Stationary Engineer for many years. James was a member of St. Mary Oratory and completely devoted to his faith. He was also a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470, and a 4th degree member of the General Assembly 190.. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, an avid gardener and a man who loved life.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; children, Greg McLaughlin, Stephanie McLaughlin and Johnetta (Barry) Benhoff; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents; grandson, Mason Benhoff; brother, Stephen McLaughlin and special aunt and uncle, Johnetta Perry Ellison and Dr. Marlon Par Ellison.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 in St. Mary Oratory with Rev. Brian A. Bovee officiating. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
