James H. King

James ?Jim H. King, Sr., 65 of Aurora, formerly of Rockford, passed away Monday Nov. 3, 2008 surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He was born October 8, 1943, in Rockford, the son of John F. King and Elizabeth (Hannah) King. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1961. Jim married the love of his life, Margaret Jean Saunders October 12, 1963. Jim worked in the field of information systems most of his career advancing to the level of MIS Director. Jim enjoyed playing golf in his early years before developing a passion for tennis. He later taught his children the game he loved. Jim also enjoyed fishing local rivers and lakes, as well as, Big Trout Lake in Canada. He enjoyed traveling both nationally and internationally. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and a former member of Holy Family Church. If he counted you as a friend, then you had a friend for life. Jim loved life and loved his family. He was our teacher, our motivator, our inspiration. He will be missed. Survivors include wife, Jean; son, Jim (Eileen) King Jr., of Belvidere; daughters, Colleen (Bill) Burke of Wheaton, Denise (Tony) Garvy of Glen Ellyn; five grandchildren, Michael and Katie King; Matthew and Ryan Burke; Grace Garvy; siblings, John ?Jack(Joanne) King, Collette (Harold) Axelson, Monica (Clifford) Rivers, Betty (Carl) Try; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Friday, November 7, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rockford, IL. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, with a rosary recited at 7:30p.m. Thursday, November 6 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
