James G. Redmond, 71, of Rockford passed away April 25, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born August 14, 1946 in Rockford; he was the son of Joseph and Josephine (Choppi) Redmond. He married Linda J. Shambaugh on June 24, 1967 in Rockford.
A member of St. James Catholic church, James was the former owner and operator of B & J Printing. He was a former employee of Rockford Labor News and retired from Veolia Garbage Removal Company after 30 years of employment.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and racing pigeons.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda J. Redmond; children, Anthony (Dawn) Redmond, Joe Redmond and Julie (Sam) Cimino; grandchildren, Michael, Jacob, Alaini, Austin, AJ, Gianna, Brianna, Dominique, Bailee and Stephanie; brother, Robert (Tiffany) Redmond; sisters, Cathy (Bill) Williams, Patty (Jim) Farley and Janice Bennett; brothers-in-law, Kenny (Mary Ellen) and Frank Shambaugh; sister-in-law, Ellen Schmidt; numerous nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St, Rockford. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
