James E. Zwierzynski

James E. Zwierzynski, 77, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018. He was born September 18, 1941, in Chicago Illinois, the son of Lottie (Ulaszek) and Edwin Zwierzynski. James graduated from Mount Carmel High School, class of 1959. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. James married the love of his life, Carol Mikolajczak, on September 3, 1966. He retired after many years from Rockwell International. James was a generous man and always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed traveling with Carol and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He also liked to watch NASCAR. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church VIP luncheon group. James will be forever remembered as the best husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend one could ever have.
Survived by his loving wife, Carol; children, Edward Zwierzynski, Pamela (Gregory) Massino and John (Chandra) Zwierzynski; grandchildren, Mallory (Jeffrey) Lewis, Melissa Massino, Mitchell Massino and Gabriel Zwierzynski; sister, Barbara Carrasco and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Joseph Carrasco.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr, Rockford, IL 61109. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial to take place at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in James’ honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 411 2nd St NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
