Jacqueline Rose Petersen, 72, Rockford, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Alden Debes. She was born on September 18, 1944 in Rockford, the daughter of John E. and Ellen F. (Crawford) Rose. A graduate of West High School class of 1962. Jacqueline married Richard “Dick” Peterson on June 19, 1998 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church.
Jacqueline was an employee of Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was an intake coordinator for the ER until moving on to her role as Administrative Director for REACT until her retirement. She also volunteered at Rockford Memorial for over 20 years, heading up a great group of dedicated people. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, Junior League of Rockford and Big Brothers Big Sisters of IL. She had an outgoing personality dedicated to her work and community.
Jacqueline was a member of St. Peter Cathedral Church. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Survived by daughter Elizabeth (Matthew) Hand and grandsons Patrick and William Hand; siblings, Carol Rose, James (Eileen) Rose, Patrick Rose; step-sister, Barbara (David) Cox; many nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Julia (John) Breuer and step-son Anthony (Allison) Petersen; step-grandsons, Trey and Lukas Breuer; step-granddaughter, Sarah Petersen; predeceased by her parents and daughter, Renee Ring; stepmother Bea Rose and sister-in-law Mary Rose

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St. Rockford, IL, with Fr. William Wentink officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford as well as Friday from 9:30 a.m. until Mass. Memorials may be made to Boylan Catholic High School c/o The Renee Ring Memorial Scholarship. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to be assisting the family.
