Jacqueline K. Fox

Jacqueline K. Fox passed away peacefully November 1, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family and special friends. Throughout her life, Jackie surrounded herself with people she loved and loved her in return. Born in St. Louis in 1927, Daughter of Elizabeth and Walter D. Killion and granddaughter of her beloved grandparents, Elizabeth D. and Sir Ernest John Russell. Attended Rossman's School, John Burroughs and William Woods college. She married George Alexander Garland in 1948 and moved to Rockford in 1950 with her new family. Jackie was first and foremost a homemaker but enjoyed golfing and entertaining her many friends. She was a member of Rockford Country Club, Junior League, RMH Pink Ladies, numerous Golf leagues (she had 3 hole-in-one's during her golfing years) and her "Antiques" group. After Alex's death in 1972, she married Donald Fox in 1974 and they shared 38 wonderful years together, traveling, wintering in Florida, playing golf and watching their families grow and prosper. Don predeceased her in July 2012. Her physical presence may be gone but her spirit and her laughter lives on with those who knew and loved her. Survived by her two sons, Michael Garland of New York and Randy Garland of Rockford; step children; Dennis (Donna) Fox, Pamela (Frank) Maggio, Chris (Jo) Fox, Rene (Kurt) Swanson, grandchildren, Amy (Rick) Durso, Lisa (Philippe) Masseron, Robbie Petersen, David (Kara) Fox, Daniel Fox, Jeremy Fox, Jesse (Alix) Fox, John-Paul Fox, Tori Fox, Megan Martinez, Dana Gillingham, Eric Gillingham and 12 great grandchildren. A special thank you to Georgina Robertson, her caregiver for the past 3 years, who allowed her to live comfortably and with her dignity intact. We owe her a deep debt of gratitude for her service and compassion. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave with visitation from 12 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a local charity serving youth in Jackie's name.
