Hsueh Yen ""Stanley"" Liou, 75, of Rockford, died on July 13 at OST St. Anthony Hospital. Stanley was born in China on May 17, 1932 the son of Jing Hai Liou and Yun Zhi (Lee). He had moved from China to Korea where he met and married Hsiu Fang Lu on May 7, 1961. Stanley was an interpreter for the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had owned and operated Happy Family Restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas from 1984 until 1989 and has owned and operated Yen Ching Restaurant at 5555 E. State St. in Rockford since 1998. Stanley was an advisor for the Han Hwa Quarterly Magazine. Stanley is survive by his wife, Hsiu Fang (Lu his children, Bruce (Marsha) Liou, May (Alex) Zeng and Robert Liou; his grandchildren, Carlo and Andre Liou, Andrew, Mickey and Tommy Zeng and Nagi Liou; his brothers, Sherwin (Win Ping) Liou and Hsueh Wu (Fuhnong) Liou; his sisters, Hsueh Chin (Cheng Shin) Shih, Hsueh Jian (Lee Xun) Huang, Hsueh Jin (Yin Ling) Chow and Hsueh Jeng (Nan) Chau and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford followed by burial in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may made to the family.
