Howard B. Forrester, 62, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.nbsp; Born December 30, 1947, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, the son of Sloan and Audrey (Adkisson) Forrester.nbsp; Howard served with the Rockford Police Department for 38 years, most of this time as a detective, and was also a veteran of the Army. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with his longtime friend, Jimmy Vitale.nbsp; Howard was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family and working outside in the beautiful gardens around his home.nbsp; The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mete Korkmaz and the nursing staff at OSF St. Anthony Center for Cancer Care.nbsp; A special thanks to DJ, his home health care nurse, and caregiver Flory, for their compassionate care.
Survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Linda (Menke son, Michael (Jinny) Forresternbsp; of Aurora; daughter, Theresa (Tim) Ratzlaff of Lisle; mother, Audrey Forrester; sister, Patsy Coy; brother, Larry (Frances) Forrester; and Howards soon-to-be born, granddaughter, Sophia.
Services at 10:00am, Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave., Rockford, IL 61103, officiated by Rev. Richard Russo.nbsp; Burial in Owen Center Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation will be Monday, November 15, 2010 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103, with the Rosary recited at 7:00pm, and Tuesday 9:00am until 9:45am at the church.nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
