Hildegard Ogilby, 84 of Rockford, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Lincolnshire Place in Loves Park. Born February 10, 1928 in Stuttgart Germany, the daughter of Richard and Matilda (Rayfeld) Gross.Married her loving husband, Robert Ogilby, and together they had 5 beautiful children. She and Robert worked together many years as the owners and operators of Ogilby Transfer & Storage of Rockford. A charter member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and an advocate for crisis intervention with CONTACT.She will be remembered for her courageous heart and strong spirit.A special thank you to the staff at Lincolnshire Place and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care and loving support. Survivorsinclude her children, Carol (James) McFarlane of Rockford, Mary (Timothy) Groeninger of Rockford, Suzanne Ogilby of CA, and Thomas (Lydia) Ogilby of Rockford; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Samantha, Adam, Sean, Christopher, Danielle, and Marie; greatgrandchildren, Anne and Andrew; and sister, Lisel of Germany. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Paul; and brother, Walter. Funeral Mass Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave, with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of prayer at 9:45 in the Parish Hall. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Meals on Wheels or St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
