Hilda O. Hogan

Hilda O. Hogan, 91, of Winnebago, IL, went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2008 in her home surrounded by her family. Hilda was born on January 5, 1917 in Baumgarten, Germany the daughter of Otto and Aldeheid (Hafeman) Wallschlaeger. Hilda married Byron Hogan on March 29, 1937 in St. Patrick Catholic Church. Hilda came from Germany in 1924 and attended Rockford Central High School. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, a volunteer cook for over 50 years for St. Patricks Day Annual Corn Beef and Cabbage Dinner and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Hilda loved gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles and was the matriarch of three families. Hilda is survived by her children, Daniel (Melanie) Hogan, Margaret Schobinger and Cathe (Brian) Glenn; her grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Aker, Jessie Hogan, James (Katy) Hogan, Craig (Jolene) Glenn, Brice (Alissa) Glenn, Danielle Glenn, Robert Schobinger, Daniel Schobinger, Tessie Hogan and Byron Hogan; seven great-grandchildren; her special friends, Alice Saunders and Barb Pierce and many nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Byron Hogan (March 4, 1974 her brothers, Bill and Eric Waschlaeger; her sister, Olga Gessner; her daughter, Barbara Hogan and her son, Dennis James Hogan. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2505 School St., Rockford followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 4 7 p.m. with a rosary service at 6:45 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund to be established at a later date.
