Henry K. Skrzypczak, 90, passed away at home on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Born on July 1, 1934, in Poland, son to Adam and Mary (Brychcy) Skrzypczak. During WWII, he deported with his parents to Siberia, then lived in Africa for six years with mother and siblings in a Displaced Persons camp (Tengeru, Tanzania). Afterwards, in England he went to Lilford Technical School. Henry immigrated here in 1955 where he met his wife, Cecelia and they married in 1957. He served in the Army during the first two years of their marriage in Fort Hood, Texas. After serving in the Army, he and his family returned to Chicago where he worked at Stolting Company for about 30 years.
In 1972, he graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering after 12 years of night school.
In 1994, he purchased EGD Manufacturing Company, an Industrial Hydraulic Shock Absorber product line, and located it in Woodale, IL. In 1998, he purchased Rockford based Ingram Gage Company and combined both businesses to one location, Rockford.
He is survived by those who loved him most, his wife of 66 years, Cecilia; their children Ted (Eva) Skrzypczak, John Skrzypczak, and Elizabeth (Chris) Spytek; his grandchildren Tony, Yvonne, Monica Skrzypczak, Michael, Tom, and Anna Spytek; his brother Florian (Sofie) Skrzypczak and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Adam and Mary, as well as his sisters Irene and Daniela.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Rosary, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, Rockford, IL 61107 with Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00 a.m. burial to follow at 1:15 p.m. at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714.
