HENRY “HANK” BAUMANN

LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, AND GREAT-GRANDFATHER

79, of Rockford, IL. passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 23, 1943, in Elmhurst IL, the only son of John and Henriette (Claeyssens) Baumann. Hank was a graduate of St. Ambrose College. During his time at St. Ambrose, he met Betty Herrmann, a student at a neighboring college. He married her on September 30, 1967, in Lee, Il, building the foundation for their lifelong love. He was a Navy veteran serving from 1965 to 1971. Hank was proud of his service and was rarely seen without a U.S. veteran hat on. Hank worked as the Treasurer for Testor Corporation for over 30 years before retiring in 2002. He enjoyed bowling and playing softball with his co-workers and was an avid golfer and fisherman. Hank cherished spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly called him, “Papper”. His greatest love was his wife, Betty, of 54 years; his children, Ken (Holley) Baumann, Tonya (James) Watson, and Michele Baumann; his grandchildren, Trevor, Noelle, Amado jr., Natalie, David, Stella, Sienna, and Naomi; his great-grandchildren, Jayce and Laci. He is predeceased by his parents. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 3004 11th St. with Reverend Johnson Lopez officiating.

Burial will be in St. James Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lee, IL with Military Honors.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with the Rosary recited at 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of service.
