Helen Peers Ray, 96Rockford Helen Peers Ray, 96 of Rockford died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 3:47 a.m. in Wesley Willows Nursing Home. Born February 9, 1914 in Baraboo, WI to Rev. Benjamin and Ada (Peers) Ray. Graduated from Central High School, Rockford College and the University of Illinois. Helen was a teacher and principal for many years in Rockford public Schools. She enjoyed swimming, canoeing and traveling. A member of Second Congregational United Church of Christ.Survivors; Sister, Carolyn Ragsdale; Nieces and nephews, Kathryn Paterson, Helen Elizabeth Ragsdale, Stephen (Deborah) Ragsdale, Gordon (Colleen) Ray, Harold (Brenda) Ray and Alan (Lydia Young) Ray. Predeceased by her parents, Rev. Benjamin and Ada, brothers Lawrence and Peers Ray, Sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Ray, Brother-in-law Ralph Ragsdale and nephew-in-law Lawrence Paterson. Graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Dr. J. Michael Solberg officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Second Congregational United Church of Christ 318 N. Church Street, Rockford, IL 61101.
