Helen L. Marner

Helen L. Marner, 80 of Rockford died April 15, 2008 at home after a short illness. Born August 30, 1927 in Rock Island, daughter of Glenn W. and Florence (OMalley) Hutchinson. Attended Sacred Heart Grade School and the Villa De Chantal High School in Rock Island. Was a 1949 graduate of Clarke College with a degree in Music and English. Helen first taught high school in Keota, IA and retuned to Rock Island to teach 5th grade at Eugene Field Elementary until 1952. Married Kenneth Marner in 1952 and moved to San Diego, Ca for 2 years. They returned to Rock Island where her husband attended and earned a degree at St. Ambrose College. She and Ken moved to Rockford in 1959 to raise a family of five children. Helen was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rockford. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Kenneth; daughter, Mary Verace of Las Vegas; sons, Robert (Debbie) of Timberlane Village, Jeff (Jane) of Rockford, Jim (Laurie) of Loves Park and John of Dubuque; eight grandchildren and one great grandson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice and to Enkhjargal Dorjual ""Inga"" . Latin Funeral Mass Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, IL.Visitation held on Saturday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel (3910 N. Rockton Ave.) from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, IL. In lieu of flowers please make memorials in her name to: Poor Clares Corpus Christi Monastery or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
