Helen J. Zahorik, 94, of Rockford, IL, went to her heavenly home, Monday, December 28, 2020. She was born September 1, 1926 in Rockford, IL the daughter to Jacob and Hattie Williams. Helen attended West High School graduating in 1944. Helen married Edwin “Ed” Zahorik on August 19, 1956. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she participated in the lady’s aide and the altar guild. Helen was a dedicated volunteer at River Bluff Nursing Home. Helen loved spending time with her family especially their sporting events. Watching her grandsons wrestle, play the saxophone, and her granddaughters playing basketball and t-ball were her favorites.
Survived by her sons; Robert “Bob” (Linda) Pearce and Edwin “Ed” (Sherry) Zahorik; grandchildren, Matthew (Nebiat A.) Mesfen-Pearce, Jennifer M. Pearce, Christopher A. Pearce, Ian (Erin Engell) Zahorik and Julie (Edward) Nesby; great grandchildren, Christopher A. Mesfen-Pearce, Liya M. Mesfen-Pearce, Zoey Nesby, Talitha Nesby, Selah Nesby, Skyler Zahorik, Addison Zahorik, Jackson Zahorik; niece, Barbara Dilley; nephew, Jim Washco. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Ed; sisters, Louise Anderson, Margaret Washco; brothers, Raymond and Eddie Williams; The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and CNA’s at River Bluff for their care and compassion.
Walk through visitation will be held Thursday, January 7, 2020 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Private family service.
