Helen A. Samons

Helen A. Samons, 77, of Loves Park, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born July 15, 1939 Monticello, IA, the daughter of George F. & Helen E. (Swanson) Hartford. Graduated from Monticello High School, class of 1958. She married Thurman “Buck’ Samons in Rockford, on May 15, 1959. Together they raised their children. She was an active member of Journey Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Hawaii, her cat Emme, going out for diner, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include children, Mike (Lisa) Samons, Theresa (Tom) Hill and Jeff (Gin) Samons; grandchildren Cody, Kelsey and Cory. Predeceased by parents, husband, brother James and step-sister Mary.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Vincent Racanelli and all the medical staff at Rockford Memorial Hospital for all their care and support.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 3910 N. Rockton Ave, Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.
