Harry R. Mcallister

Harry Ray McAllister, 76, of Machesney Park, passed away on August 13, 2023, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Born on October 20, 1946, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Alfred and Genevieve (Jordan) McAllister. He graduated from Freeport High School, class of 1964. He married Marilyn Lanham on August 23, 1980, in Danville, Illinois, and committed to be a loving and caring father to Marilyns children, Lori and Randy. Harry enjoyed fishing, golfing, and was a jokester who loved a good pun. He liked collecting model cars and putting up Christmas lights with granddaughter Bailey. He was a hardworking, patient, funny, committed man.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Sharri Richardson, Lori (Denny) Smoot, and Randy (Emily) Lanham; grandchildren, Greg Richardson, Joseph (Jamie) Richardson, Steven (Kari) Richardson, Bailey Smoot, and Kyle Lanham; several great grandchildren; siblings, Karen (Steve) Schlamp, Ronald (Sally) McAllister, and Tamara (Michael J.) Fox; nephews, Marty, Michael, and Mitchell; nieces, Jennifer, Myranda, and Kasey; and special friends, Lenny and Jean Gutzmer and Ray and Laura Knepper. He is predeceased by his parents; son, James Lanham; niece, Kelly McAllister; and beloved dog, Penny.

A visitation will be on Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. A funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
